The Court of Common Pleas is a general jurisdiction consisting of four divisions: Civil, Criminal, Domestic Relations and Appellate.
The Common Pleas Court has jurisdiction over adult felonies and civil cases with a disputed monetary amount in excess of $15,000.00.
- The Criminal Division issues summons and warrants for all felony indictments presented by the grand jury.
- The Civil Division handles foreclosures, real estate, injunctions. and major civil cases (both injury and contract).
Marital, child support issues, and non-criminal domestic violence cases are heard by the Domestic Relations Court. Appeals to the Twelfth Appellate District are filed with the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas.
